SELECTION & RECRUITMENT OPEN – 2025 BATCH

  General Purpose (GP) Rating
  (Leading to become Chief Engineer / Captain on ships)
  • Duration : 6 Months
  • Approved by : D.G. Shipping, Govt of India.
  • Ranking : Grade A1 (Outstanding).

    Course Eligiblity :

      •  Category 1: Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard with Science, Mathematic as subjects.
         The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams.
         Age limit: Minimum 17.5 Years and Maximum 25 Years.
      •  Category 2: Pass in 2-Year I.T.I. course from Govt. Approved Institute with minimum 50% aggregate marks in final year.
         The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams.
         Age limit: Minimum 17.5 Years and Maximum 25 Years.
      •  Category 3: Diploma or Degree holders.
         Pass with aggregate 40% marks in 10th Standard with Science, Mathematic as subjects.
         The candidates must have secured minimum 40% marks in English in 10th standard exams.
         Age limit: Minimum 17.5 Years and Maximum 27 Years.
      •  Passport is Mandatory.
      •  Medical standard: Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight up to (+ or -) 2.5 with no colour blindness.
    • Notes:
    • 1. Category 1, 2 and 3 – The candidate must have passed the 10th standard from a recognized board.
    • 2. Category 3 – The diploma or degree must be recognized by any State or Central Government or the AICTE.
    • 3. Category 3 – The maximum age limit for degree or diploma is raised with a condition that these candidates are provided shipboard training within one year of completion of course.
    • 4. The maximum age limit mentioned above shall be applicable for General Category candidates.
    • 5. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to “Scheduled Caste” (SC) / “Scheduled Tribe” (ST) Category shall be relaxed by 5 years.
    • 6. The maximum age limit for candidates belonging to Non-creamy layer of “Other Backward Classes’ (OBC) Category shall be relaxed by 3 years.
    • 7. The maximum age limit for women candidates of each Category shall be relaxed by additional 2 years.

    B.Sc Nautical Science (IMUCET Program)
(Leading to become Captain of the Ship)
    • Duration : 3 Years

      Course Eligiblity :

        •  Pass in 12th Standard or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate subjects with a PCM average of not less than 60%.
        •  The candiadate must have secured minimum 50% marks in English language in 10th or 12th standard exam.
        •  Qualified in Online Common Entrance Test. The Candidate should appear for IMU Common Entrance Test and must pass the test. The application form for IMU CET is available on www.imu.edu.in.
        •  Passport is Mandatory.
        •  Age limit: Maximum 25 Years.
        •  Medical standard: Candidates must be medically fit including eye sight and hearing as prescibed in the Merchant Shipping (Medical Examination) Rules, 2000, as amended and eyesight 6/6 with no colour blindness. Minimum height should be 157 centimetres.
    B.Tech Marine Engineering
(Leading to become Chief Engineer on ships)
Duration : 4 Years

    Course Eligiblity :

    Course Eligiblity :

      • Category 1 : BE or BTECH in Mechanical Engineering with minimum marks of 50% in final year.
      • Category 2 : A full time BE or BTECH in all Mechanical Engineering streams eg. Mechanical adn Automation, Mechanical and Electronics, Mechanical and Automobile etc. However, the word “Mechanical” should be first indicating that Mechanical Engineering is the core and the second subject is the elective.
      • Category 3 : Candidates who have degree in all Naval Architecture streams eg. Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, Naval Architecture and Ship building, etc. However, the word “Naval Architecture” should be first indicating that Naval Architecture is the core and the second subject is the elective.
    •  The candidate must have secured minimum of 50% marks in English language at 10th or 12th or in Degree Exam.
    •  Passport is Mandatory.
    •  Age limit: Maximum 28 Years.
    •  Medical standard: Candidates should be physically fit for sea service under standard norms, with eyesight up to (+ or -) 2.5 with no colour blindness. Minimum height should be 157 centimetres.
    Marine Electro Technical Officer Course
(Leading to become Electro Technical Officer on ships)
    • Duration : 16-17 weeks. 6-8 months onboard training arrangement will be provided as placement assistance for deserving students

    • Course Eligiblity :
    • Category 1: Passed Four year’s BE / BTECH Degree including lateral entry, with 50% marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and lnstrumentation or equivalent.
       The candidates must have secured minimum 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th standard exams. If a candidate could not secure 50% marks in English in 10th or 12th standard exams shall still be eligible provided the candidate secures 50% in the degree exam and the medium of learning in degree was English.
    •  Category 2: The Candidates who were admitted in Diploma course on the basis of Matriculation only and went to complete their B.E / B.Tech degree course as a lateral entry in the 2nd year of the degree on the basis of Diploma, and has secured with 50% marks in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and Instrumentation or equivalent.
      The candidates must have secured minimum 50% marks in English in 10th standard exams. If a candidate could not secure 50% marks in English in 10th standard exam shall still be eligible provided the candidate secures 60% in Diploma or 50% in the degree exam and the medium of learning in diploma or degree was English.
    •  Category 3: Passed three year’s Diploma with 60% marks in Electrical Engineeringq Electronics Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication / Communication Engineering, or Electronics and lnstrumentation or equivalent.
      The candidates must have secured minimum 50% marks in English in 10th standard exams. If a candidate could not secure 50% marks in English in 10th standard exam shall sti be eligible provided the candidate secures 60% in Diploma exam and the medium of learning in diploma was English.
